Oi. Another year at Hogwarts, another dangerous year, all because of Harry Potter, who did not happen to be a very good dancer. This girl new that very well, since she had accompanied Harry to the Yule Ball a year before. It was a very disappointing dance, until such time when a boy from Durmstrang asked her to dance. After that it was quite fun, but she felt someone watching her the whole time, someone who didn’t like her dancing with the Durmstrang. She hadn’t though about that since just now, waiting for the train to depart from platform 9 and ¾.
She blinked, realizing her sister, Padma, was saying something to her, and expected her to say something back. “Sorry?” She asked with a frown. “I didn’t catch that.” Padma shook her head in a frustrated manor, but repeated her question.
“Do you think we’ll be going anytime soon?” Padma asked again, blinking.
“Well I imagine so,” Parvati answered, glancing out the window at the parents waving goodbye to their children. “Right about now, even.” As she said this, the train lurched forward, and slowly made it’s way out of the station, leaving the parents behind. She looked at all of them waving, before the train rounded a corner and the were out of sight. She wondered what would happen this year, seeing as something big happened /every/ year. When she looked back to where her sister had been sitting, to find she had disappeared. She shrugged, guessing she’d gone to flirt with some of the boys.
“Mind if I sit down?” Parvati was so into her thoughts, she hadn’t noticed Neville Longbottom open the compartment door. She smiled and nodded at him, shifting Padma’s things to the spot next to her, so Neville could sit down.
“Where’s Padma?” He asked, and Parvati merely shrugged.
“Dunno. I was looking out the window, and when I looked back, she was gone. Why?”
“Just asking..” Neville sounded nervous, well, more nervous than usual as he said this. Parvati figured he might have a bit of a crush on her sister, and it made her happy to think so. But, even then, she felt a little envious. She wasn’t aware of any boys that liked /her./ She hadn’t had a boyfriend yet in school, and was sort of doubtful about getting one. Padma would tell her if she knew someone liked her, she was one of the biggest gossipers in school, besides Parvati’s best friend Lavender Brown. She blinked, to find Neville was looking at her strangely. Why was she having such a hard time focusing today? She just sort of forgot that people were around her.
“ Oh, right.” Parvati said, trying to cover up her silence. “Well, how do you think school’s going to be this year?” She asked, doing her best to focus on the conversation.
“Same as usual, I bet. Life-threatening situations, killers running around loose, fighting evil.” They both chuckled at this, and Parvati thought about how Neville could sometime be a very funny boy, if he only wasn’t so shy. But before she could get too into her thoughts, she remembered the conversation.
“Yeah, probably.” She said, grinning broadly. She was about to say more when Padma re-entered, this time bringing along Seamus Finnegan. Parvati smiled at them as they took spot in the compartment. “We having a compartment party?” She asked was a small laugh. For some reason she had started to feel a tad uncomfortable since her sister returned with Seamus, and she couldn’t figure out why. She shrugged off the feeling.
“I just thought it would be nice to have some company in here, but I see you’ve already got some.” Padma said with a shrug. “By the way, hello Neville.” Padma hadn’t noticed how uncomfortable Neville was looking right now, but Parvati did.
“Hi..” Neville mumbled, returning to his usual shy self. Parvati shook her head, frustrated at him. It was now quite obvious he was crushing on Padma, but he was too shy to say something, and Padma wasn’t smart enough to notice.
Parvati gave a little wave of welcome to Seamus, first realizing it was him that was making her feel awkward. “So, how’s everyone?” She said, trying to hide the nervousness in her voice.
“Good..” Neville said, who had moved to sit next to Parvati when Seamus and Padma had come back. Apparently he was too shy even to sit next to her.
“Fine.” Seamus said, and Parvati noticed just how cute his Irish accent sounded, and it made her blush. Luckily for her, it barely showed through her dark skin. Padma nodded her agreement that she, too, was doing well.
“That’s good.. Well, I think I’m going to go and say hi to Harry, Hermione, and Ron..” Parvati said, standing. She wanted to get out of that compartment more than anything in the world right now. Was she getting a crush? She didn’t want to, because her crush on Harry hadn’t ended up well. But, could she stop it from happening? Just as she was about to leave, Seamus spoke up.
“I’ll come with.” He said, also standing. This was unfortunate for Parvati, considering he was the one she wanted to get away from. But, she didn’t want to seem rude, so she nodded uncertainly, and continued on her way down the hall, looking for Harry, Hermione and Ron in a compartment. She found Harry sitting alone I a compartment, which was strange. Either he was having a fight with his friends, or, they had become Prefects. She opened the compartment door with a smile, and entered, holding it open for Seamus to come in too.
“Hello, Harry.” She said sitting down across from him, and she winced as Seamus sat down next to her. “Where’s Ron and Hermione?” She asked, giving him a little frown of concern.
“Prefects..” He mumbled, and Parvati could tell that he was a tad jealous of them. “I was talking to Neville, but he went to find Padma.” He shrugged, frowning.
“Ah, well, he’s found her.” She said. “They’re back in our compartment, chatting. Do you think Neville likes her?” She asked, a wistful look on her face. Was she trying to play matchmaker again? It was difficult for her not too, thinking of how everyone should have someone to love. Even though she, herself, did not have someone.
Harry shrugged. “Dunno,” Harry said sarcastically “He’s only been telling me about how pretty she is since he left to find her.” Parvati giggled a bit, finding this funny and disappointing at the same time. She looked exactly like her sister, so why didn’t Neville think she was pretty, too?
“Not as pretty as some girls in Hogwarts..” Seamus put in, which surprised her. Was he trying to give her some secret sign that he though she was prettier than Padma? Parvati didn’t want to think so, because she felt she was imagining things to make it seem that he liked her back. But, what she didn’t know, was that he was trying to tell her that, in his own secretive, childish way.
“How right you are,” Harry said with a nod, “Cho’s looking pretty good this year. Have you seen her yet?” He asked, a dream-like smile on his face. Parvati personally thought he would do better to be with Ginny Weasly, who everyone knew had liked Harry ever since her first year. She was a lot nicer than Cho, having even agreed to go to the Yule Ball with Neville. Remembering the conversations between Harry and Seamus, Parvati tried to focus again. They had moved on to the topic of which classes they were going to take, and things like that.
“I’m quitting Divination..” Seamus was saying, to Parvati’s great disgust. She loved Divinations more than any other class, and so did Lavender. It was a fascinating subject, in her opinion, and Professor Trelawney was a great teacher.
“Me too.” Harry agreed with a nod. “Load of rubbish, just like Hermione said in 3rd year. Hate to admit she was right, though.” Both Seamus and Harry laughed heartily, but Parvati remained quiet. She stood abruptly, and without a word left the compartment, slamming the door behind her. She did not appreciate having her favorite subject be talked about like that, like it was garbage. She turned and shot them both a glare, before taking long strides down the hall back to her own compartment. Without even looking around it, she grabbed her robes and went to change into them. Had she taken the time to check out the scene, she would have realized that Neville was long since gone, and Padma and Fred Weasly were snogging. She would have been grateful not to see this, really.
After changing, she went down the halls to find Lavender, someone she could talk to about Divination, boys and anything else she wanted to talk about.
As soon as she found her friend, Lavender already had news to share. “Did you know, I heard from Dean who was told by Pansy Parkinson that Neville saw Fred and Padma snogging!?” She nearly shrieked in excitement, but Parvati groaned.
“No, no, NO!” She said angrily. “Neville must be devastated! He really, really likes Padma!”
“Ooh! Do tell!” Lavender said, straightening in her seat. Parvati was now sitting across from her. It annoyed her that Lavender could be unfazed by someone loosing love.
“Well, see, Neville came into my compartment earlier, just after the train left the platform, and he was looking for Padma. Well, Padma had gone, looking for someone else to talk to, and so I chatted with him for a bit. When I asked him why he was looking for Padma, he got all defensive and stuff. It was obvious that he fancies her.”
“Wow! That’s so cool!” Lavender gave a big smile, and it faded when Fred passed them. Both girls watched him pass as if he were some strange alien, but he didn’t seem to notice them.
“Well, now that it’s safe to go back to my compartment, I’ll be going.” Parvati said with a nod, standing back up. “We should be arriving soon, don’t you think?” Lavender nodded, a looking a little upset that her friend was leaving. Parvati exited the compartment, sighing, and headed back to her own. As she passed by Harry and Seamus, Harry looked at her in much the same manner they had just looked at Fred. This confused her a lot, but she decided to try and ignore it. It was hard, though. She couldn’t get why he would look at her that way. Like he’d learned something deep and sinister about her. Returning to her own seat, Parvati grinned at her sister knowingly.
“What? What did I do?” She asked with a sly smile.
“Oh, nothing.” Parvati rolled her eyes, and waited in silence for the train to stop. When it finally did, she was so grateful. This had been quite the train ride. Neville liking Padma, Padma snogging Fred.. She tried to refuse the fact that she was starting to like Seamus. It was too uncomfortable to think about. When she left the train, she saw Harry speaking to Luna Lovegood. They girl they called Looney Lovegood. And for good reason. She word big radish earrings, and a butterbeer cork necklace. Parvati thought she was a nice girl, but that she was very odd. They were speaking about the horses that pulled the carriages. About how they looked different then usual. Parvati couldn’t see this. To her, they looked just like regular, normal horses. She climbed into one, sighing.
Not but a moment later, Lavender joined her, pulling Seamus along. Good lord, did everyone want her to feel uncomfortable and awkward? Her best friend looked at her knowingly. How could Lavender know? She hadn’t told anyone yet! Well, she couldn’t doubt that her friend knew her inside and out, just like Parvati knew her. “Hi..” Parvati said nervously, looking out the window in her embarrassment.
She could hear Lavender telling Seamus something in a hushed tone, and she couldn’t pick out any understandable words. Finally getting annoyed enough, she spoke up. “There are other people here, you know.” She said angrily, as they neared the castle.
“Sorry, Parvati..” Lavender said with a sigh. Soon they reached the castle, where all three of them piled out of the carriage, and followed Professor McGonagall into the great hall, where Parvati sat in between Lavender and Ginny, looking up at Dumbledore. She could see Harry, Ron, Hermione and Seamus ahead of her. When she looked behind her, she saw some of the older students, including Fred and George, Angelina, Katie. Also some students she didn’t know.
Parvati turned back to look at Dumbledore, who was now announcing the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge. She was a toad-like woman, all squatish and wrinkled. She was from the Ministry, as Dumbledore was explaining.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the girls dorm, Parvati, Padma, Lavender and Hermione were having a bit of fun. Truth or dare was the name of the game. At the time, Hermione was asking Padma “Truth or dare?”
“Umm… Truth.” Padma said with a nod.
“Alright. Is it true that… When you were on the train, you snogged Fred?” At this, she, along with the other girls giggled. Truth or Dare was a childish game, thus giving them permission to be silly. Padma blushed, answering.
“Yeah.. Okay, now my turn. Lavender, truth or dare?”
“Dare!” She said excitedly.
“Okay, okay. I dare you to go into the common room and snog the first boy you see. Even if it’s a first year!” It was obvious that Lavender now regretted saying dare, but she nodded, and stood. Everyone was laughing hysterically at the dare, which was indeed a good one.
“Wait a minute,” Lavender said, “For how long?”
“15 seconds!” Padma exclaimed joyfully.
Lavender grimaced, but headed out of the dorm, leaving the girls laughing again. Who would she see? What if she just said that she did? No, they would ask whoever it was if she really had, so it was better to just do it, than face being called a coward by her friends for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, Parvati was talking with her friends about the dare. “Who’s it gonna be?” She asked no one in particular. Hermione giggled knowingly.
“Well, I saw Seamus down there right before I came up here!” She said in a oh-my-goodness type of tone. At this, Parvati could hardly sustain a gasp of horror. She didn’t want Lavender to kiss /him/, anyone but /him./ Apparently the other girls could see the look of dismay that laid thickly on her dark face.
“Parvati, what’s wrong?” Hermione asked, frowning.
“Huh? Oh, nothing.” Parvati said quickly, replacing her frown with a smile. “Nothing at-” Before she could finish, Lavender returned, looking rather disgusted.
“Lav!” Padma exclaimed at once. “Who was it?”
Lavender glared at her, obviously not having enjoyed her dare, and flopped down on her bed. “The wondrous Irish idiot!” She said, shoving her head into her pillow angrily.
On the inside Parvati was shrieking in anger. No, no, no! I didn’t want that to happen! It’s all stupid Padma’s fault, she gave Lavender the dare. With a rather defeated sigh, Parvati crawled into her own bed. Suddenly she didn’t feel like playing anymore. “I think I’m going to bed, now.” She said, sounding grumpy. She could hear the other girls whispering, but she really didn’t care. They were being quiet enough for her to sleep, and that was all that mattered. Soon she fell asleep, not wanting to go to class the next morning.
But, eventually, she did get up, totally unready for the day ahead. It was raining, making her think about how life just kicks you when you’re down. She slowly got ready for double Potions, which just added to the overall depressing day. She spent most of the morning trying not to think about the night before. Parvati didn’t look at anyone in class, not even Lavender. The only person she ever glanced at was Professor Snape, but barely even him. She focused on her potions book until the end of class. Eventually, it was over, and lunchtime arrived. Boy, was she grateful for it.
During lunch, she found a spot on the edge of the Gryffindor table, somewhere she could sit alone. She was way sulking today. If anyone were to really get in her way, she might bite their head off. Either that, or spill out all of her self pity to that person. She was wallowing in her thoughts when a voice interrupted her.
“You look a little sad…” Ah. Neville, the one person who could feel as horrible as she did. “You okay?”
“Yeah.. Fine, I guess.” Parvati said with a sigh.
“You sure?”
“Uh-huh.”
Neville was sounding a little nervous now, as if he were trying to start conversation. “Something weird happened to Seamus last night…” He offered un-knowingly.
“Just SHUT UP!” She yelled, storming out of the Great Hall, her robs swirling behind her angrily. After she left, she went straight to her dormitory, wanting to be away from the world forever. Or at least until Charms in 20 minutes.
While, in the Great Hall, everyone was staring at Neville. Ron came up to him, obviously trying to hold in a laugh.
“What was that all about?” He asked.
“I.. I dunno.. I mean, all I was saying was about what happened to Seamus last night, and she got all mad at me and left!” He sounded extremely nervous, not liking to have done something to make somebody angry.
“Oh, no!” Hermione had joined them, and had her hand over her mouth. “No! Why couldn’t I have seen this! Oh, god no!” Looking like she was mad at herself, Hermione scurried out the Great Hall, going to find Parvati.
Neville and Ron looked at each other, then Hermione leaving, wondering what the heck she was yelling at herself about. “Girls.” They muttered.
In the girl’s dormitory, Hermione was sitting down on the end of Parvati’s bad, holding her in a hug. “It’s gonna be okay..” She was telling her friend. “It was a dare, that’s all. We don’t even know if he liked it, right?” Parvati nodded reluctantly, wiping some tears from her eyes.
“That’s true.. Thanks Hermione.” She said, actually feeling a little better. Even the rain was slowing down a bit. She slowly stood up, realizing they were going to be late for charms if they didn’t hurry up and get out of there soon. “Come on, we’ve got to get Charms, before we’re late.”
“Right, let’s go.” Hermione said, following suit and standing up. She took Parvati’s hand and dragged her down to Charms class.

------------------------------------------------------------

About a week passed, with the only event of Parvati trying to avoid Seamus. Nothing really more than that. Until Friday, when talking with Seamus was unavoidable. It was in portions class, and an assignment was to work with a partner to make a potion. It was just her luck to be paired with /him./
They chatted uncomfortably through the class, adding an ingredient here and there, stirring and mixing. And after it all, made a fairly successful potion. Parvati thought they did well. “Good job..” She said nervously to him as they walked out of the dungeons.
“Um.. Thanks.” Seamus said, feeling like Parvati had actually done most of the work.
“Well… See you.” Parvati rushed off, blushing, but not looking angry anymore. After a calm week, some time to rest, she was feeling much better. She wondered vaguely if all the secrecy was ever going to end or what was going to happen. Would she every really tell him? Or would it just go secret until she had to burst it out in front of everyone. The first option sounded better, but she guessed that the second option would be what actually happened. With a sigh, she headed up to the Great Hall and sat down next to Neville. This made him anxious.
“Hi, Neville.” She said cheerily.
“H-hi, Parvati..” He said, hoping not to make her angry again.
“Having a good day?” Parvati asked, putting some chicken onto her plate.
“Yeah, I guess so. Herbology was fun, today.” He said, starting to feel less nervous around her.
“I was never good at Herbology, but when I did take it, I enjoyed it.” She nodded, tucking into some of her chicken. “Even though I wasn’t very good at it..”
After a moment of comfortable silence, Harry and Ron joined them, piling food onto their own plates. “Hey Neville, hey Parvati.” Harry said with a smile.
“Hi.” Parvati and Neville said at the same time.
After everyone ate, Dumbledore stood up at the staff table, and was obviously going to make an announcement. “Silence!” He called, and everyone quieted from their chatting and shouting to listen. Even Malfoy. “I have an announcement!” See? Obvious. “Hogwarts is going to hold another ball this year! Excited talking from the girls and annoyed groans from the boys were heard, which was another thing anyone could have predicted. Only Neville seemed excited about the news. “It will be held on Halloween night, as a Masquerade Ball! That is all!” He sat back down, and let everyone talk amongst themselves.
“What rubbish..” Ron was telling Harry angrily.
“ I think it’s going to be fun!” Parvati said happily, now full. “We’ll all be in masks and it’ll be just like a secret party!” She said, and stood up. “Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m going to work on my outfit.” She walked down the tables, and out of the Great Hall, but couldn’t help but feel like someone was watching her leave.
In the girls dorm, Parvati and Padma were discussing the ball. “I really think we should wear different dresses.” Padma was telling her sister firmly, half expecting her to burst into tears.
“I think so too.” Parvati said, to her sister’s surprise. “I mean, we’re starting to like different colors and dresses and things like that, right? So why should we force ourselves to wear the same outfit.” Padma nodded.
“Alright. Even though mum and dad will be hurt..” They both sighed, but knew it was time for their parents to accept that they were growing apart a bit.
Luckily, the next day, was a Hogsmeade trip, so they could buy their dressed. Both girls got ready the next morning, happy to pick out their dresses. Parvati wore light blue jeans, and a black tank top with a crimson zip-up sweatshirt. Padma had almost the same outfit on, except her sweatshirt was a pale pink, instead of dark red. They walked down the path to Hogsmeade together, chatting, until they reached the dress shop there. It had all sorts of dresses, from short black ones, to long gold elegant ones. The night before, the girls had found masks to match their dresses too. Padma’s mask was circular, and pink, with white and gold feathers around it. Parvati’s was more pointed, and black, with black and white feathers around it.
Parvati searched one side of the shop, while Padma searched the other, looking for both a dress for herself, and something her sister might like to try on. She saw a black dress hanging on a rack, and pulled it off. It has white lace on the bottom and a white bow on the shoulder strap. Ugly. She put back, a look of disgust on her face. She investigated another rack, this time uncovering a black and white dress. It was strapless, with a band of white at the top, bottom, and around the waist. It went down to about the knee, maybe higher. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Parvati clutched in greedily and ran into the dressing room to try it on.
Padma saw her sister dashing to the dressing room, and followed to the door to see what Parvati had found. “Whatcha got?” She asked, happy for her sister. She had yet to find the perfect pink and gold or pink and white dress.
“This!” Parvati exclaimed, parading out of the dressing room in the black and white dress. “Isn’t it lovely? Isn’t it perfect? And I have enough for it, too!”
“It’s beautiful! Now, you go pay for that, and then help me find one, alright?”
“Okay.” Parvati went back into the dressing room to change back into her own clothes, while Padma left to look at dresses. She came out a few minutes later and paid for her dress, then went up to Padma who was madly rummaging through the racks and trying to find the perfect dress. “Oi, calm down! You’ll find it!” Parvati said, trying to calm her frantic sister.
“I know, I know.. It’s just, I want to look fabulous.” Padma shrugged, continuing to look through the dozens of dresses. She pulled out one golden dress that was silky and long, down to the ankles, and was held up by a collar around the neck, witch was white. “It’s.. Lovely!” Padma exclaimed happily. “It’s absolutely lovely!”
“I agree,” Parvati said, smiling. “Go on and try it on, then.” She trailed after her sister to the door of the dressing room. “Now hurry up, we should be going back soon.”
“Alright, alright!” Padma said angrily, and stepped out of the dressing room in the dress. “Look! It’s wonderful!” She went back into the dressing room to change back into her clothes, and soon came back out. She went to the counter to pay for it, Parvati right behind her, and both girls piled out of the shop with their dresses.
“You know, I think we have time for a butterbeer, what do you think?” Parvati asked.

“Yeah..” Padma nodded, and opened the door to the Three Broomsticks. They took a seat in the back corner, farthest away from the door. It was starting to get chilly outside, so they wanted to sit where it was warm. Not long after, a waiter approached them and placed a butterbeer in front of Parvati. She hadn’t ordered anything yet.
“From the Gentleman who just left.” He said and left Parvati to wonder who it was, while Padma ordered her drink. Parvati looked at the door, but it was only swinging lightly from it’s last opening. There was no one to be seen out the window, that she knew, at least. She took a sip of her drink, giving up on trying to figure out who it was.
“That was weird.” Padma commented with a shrug.
“Yeah, it was.. Who do you think it was?”
“Dunno.” It was obvious that Padma did know, she was just unwilling to share. Probably because whoever it was had asked her not to tell. Parvati decided to let it go.
“Okay, then.” She downed the rest of the butterbeer, and Padma did the same. “We should get going.” They stood, and exited the establishment.

The days until Halloween Night passed without any dares, scenes, or free butterbeers. Both girls were looking forward to the dance, even though they didn’t have dates. No one did, though. The dance was meant for people to show up alone, and dance with someone when you got there, whoever you wanted to, really.
Finally, the night of the Ball came along and Parvati was trying to make herself look perfect. She put on her dress, loving how it looked on her. She put up her hair in a tight bun at the back of her neck, and secured the black and white mask over her eyes. She applied some light pink lip gloss and dangly diamond earrings and went to find Padma.
Meanwhile, Padma was also getting herself ready. She had on her long silky gold dress and her hair was lightly curled and down. She was wearing a darker pink lip gloss, and pink diamond studs. Both girls looked fabulous.
They strolled down to the main floor where they could barely recognize anyone. On a quest to find their own friends, Padma and Parvati split up. Parvati hung around the entrance to the great hall for a bit, when she heard Lavender.
“Parvati? That you?” She asked. Lavender was wearing a white mask, with purple feathers around it, and a dress the same color as her name,
“Yeah, it’s me.” Parvati smiled. “You look great!”
“You too! Come on, let’s go ahead in.” Lavender said, and dragged her friend into the Great Hall.
It looked beautiful and spooky all at once. Pumpkins floated a few feet above everyone’s heads, and the stars thousands of miles above that. Food and drinks sat on circular tables all around the hall, and few people were already dancing in the middle of the Hall. Everyone was in masks, and it was nearly impossible to tell anyone from anyone else. Apart from Fred and George who were taller than anyone else. Everyone looked wonderful, except for a few girls who were wearing very ugly dresses. One girl she could recognize as Pansy Parkinson, who actually wasn’t with Malfoy, but a large boy. Goyle. Parvati couldn’t help but chuckle under her breath. She could also see Ron’s bright red hair standing with.. Hermione!? They were holding hand. Oh, finally. Then a boy in a mask she couldn’t recognize bumped into her. He’d been pushed by another boy who was standing nearly.
“Dance.” Instructed the boy who pushed the other, she could recognize that it was Harry’s voice. She shot him a confused look, but followed as the boy she couldn’t recognize led her to the dance floor. A slow song had come on. Oh, lovely.
Padma, Lavender, Harry, Ron and Hermione stood against a wall, watching Parvati and Seamus dance. All of them looked proud of themselves, and nodded to each other every so often. “But you know,” Lavender was saying, “If Parvati finds out this was all a plan by us, she’ll beat us to a pulp, no lie.” At this, Hermione cringed.
“But, what if it all ends well?” Hermione asked.
“Won’t matter. She doesn’t like it when people interfere. Even though she really needed us to. If not, she’d be alone forever.” Lavender said with a shrug, and they all laughed.
“She’s not that shy, is she?” Harry questioned with a frown.
“Sort of..” Padma answered. “Only when she likes someone a lot.” They all chuckled again.
“If only romance wasn’t so complicated.” Lavender said, shaking her head and sighing. Everyone nodded in agreement. They continued to watch in silence, except for Ron and Hermione who had gone to the dance floor. “Well, as interesting as this is, I think I’m going to find someone to dance with. See you.” She said, and strolled off.
“Go on and find Cho.” Padma said with a sigh, knowing Harry wanted to, but didn’t want to seem rude. He only nodded before rushing off in search of her, leaving Padma alone. She noticed someone approaching her.
“W-would you like to d-dance?” She recognized Neville’s voice, and shrugged, then nodded.
“Sure.” She led him to the dance floor, smiling, and began to dance to a fairly quick song with him, and noticed Parvati and Seamus had disappeared.
Had Padma looked to the far back of the Great Hall, she would have seen what everyone had expected to see eventually. Cinderella and her Prince snogging in the corner.
But, Ron and Hermione who were dancing had noticed. “Finally.” Hermione said and Ron twirled her around. “It’s about time they got together. I mean, just about everyone in this castle was waiting for it.” Ron looked bored with the conversation, but he was still glad about it.
All was going well on that Halloween night. Even for Harry who had his chance to dance with Cho. Apart from a certain Draco Malfoy who sat alone in the Slytherin Common Room, drowning in anger. What could have made the Slytherin Prince so mad? He hadn’t seen Harry all evening, so what was it? It had something to do with a certain Cinderella and her Prince.

Pippin: What is that!?
Merry: This, my friend, is a pint.
Pippin: It comes in pints!? -Pause- ...I'm getting one.
